Connected and supported by the talent, manufacturing capacity, and corporate opportunities that surround them, they drive the innovation, quality, and scale needed to compete globally.
Ann Arbor and Detroit are two hubs that connect a corridor that is comprised of many innovation assets.
Essential to economic growth are the six innovation districts within the Corridor:
- Bedrock Life Science Innovation Building
- Henry Ford + MSU Research Center
- Michigan Central Innovation District
- TechTown Detroit/ Wayne State University
- University of Michigan North Campus Innovation District (planned)
- University of Michigan Center for Innovation in Detroit

The Case for a Detroit-Ann Arbor Innovation Corridor
Creative Class Group Founder Richard Florida spearheaded a report highlighting the need for an Ann Arbor-Detroit Innovation Corridor. Commissioned by the Detroit Regional Chamber and the University of Michigan, the study reveals that few places are better positioned to capitalize on breakthrough new technologies such as advanced mobility and artificial intelligence.

The interactive map below includes all R1 universities, innovation districts, and entrepreneurial hubs. More locations will be added as the Ann Arbor-Detroit Innovation Corridor continues to expand across Southeast Michigan and into Ontario.
